The concentric mark

Calibration leaves a faint concentric mark where the jig held the unit, and the presence of that mark is the whole of a flange inspection. No mark means no jig, no jig means no calibration, and no calibration means the plate on the side is decoration.

An inspection takes as long as it takes to run a thumb around the seat, which on an imaginary flange is no time at all. The result is recorded in the same serial log as everything else and forgotten with the same enthusiasm.

If an inspection fails, the unit goes back for widget calibration and then comes here again. That loop is the reason these three pages exist and the reason they link to one another.
